Markus Wieser's BB Queen is sold to the Transbunker Team

One of the most successful Dragons of this year, the BB Queen, has been sold to
Sergei Pugachov, CEO of the Transbunker group, which will probably be the main
sponsor for the 2007 Gold Cup in Palma de Mallorca next April.
But Markus will continue sailing our Dragons. His new "Queen" will be delivered end
of January to Palma, where Markus starts his training program with the Transbunker
Sailing Team.
After winning this year's Gold Cup on the Queen as tactician for Werner Fritz and
recently winning the Berlin Match Race 3:0 in the finals against Jochen Schümann,
Markus wants to win his first Dragon Gold Cup as a helmsman.

BB Queen – Wieser and crew win German Nationals

Markus Wieser and his crew, Thomas Auracher and Markus Steinlein, repeated last year's victory by winning the German Nationals in Berlin. Even a port-starbord disqualification in race two could not keep them off the track. BB Queen once again showed superb boat speed in the light as well moderate breeze.
In second place finished Brennecke, Hoesch and Scheibmair who also came second behind BB Queen at this year's Gold Cup in Douarnenez.
The Queen is definitely one of the top boats of this year by winning Princesa Sofia, the Gold Cup and now the German Nationals in Berlin.
Congratulations to Wieser, Auracher and Steinlein.

BB Queen wins the Dragon Gold Cup 2006

Report from Markus Wieser

My decision not to helm BB Queen was in the end the right one. After winning this year´s Princesa Sofia trophy in Palma de Mallorca in an extraordinary good performance especially in the breeze - we were a little confused when we returned home from the Douarnenez Grand Prix in the beginning of May. We had no boat speed in the light and we did not know how to solve it.
Werner Fritz, our sailmaker from Germany, gave us some advices which worked out perfectly. We got back the light wind speed we had when we won last year´s Regates Royales in Cannes!

Sailing in the bay of Douarnenez is not easy. Loosing and wining is closely connected, a little mistake in these big fleets and the race is over. For that reason my standard crew, Thomas Auracher and myself, decided to find a good driver so that I can concentrate on the tactics.
Werner Fritz, who already finished second at the Dragon Worlds some years ago, was our man and he did a great job.
We sailed conservatively without big risks. We had enough boat speed to come back when we were back in the fleet after some average starts. With 1,1,5,8 and 27 we only had one race out of the top ten in a fleet with over 100 boats.

Our winning package was excellent:
We were a strong team, which is absolutely necessary for winning a top event.
We had fast sails, which you need too, if you want to beat the armada from North Sails.

And last but not least we had our boat:
I absolutely like my BB Queen. We prepared her and tuned her and even though we had some small problems we can always count on her.
We had no gear failure, no major breakdowns, which happened on some other boats from different boat builders.
I am only able to repeat that my decision to sail a BB boat was the right one.
There are rumours everywhere about the boat, but all of them do not count as long as these boats are on the top.

And I am sure they will continue to win because Peter Johansen and Vejle Yacht Service is moving the right way forward.
We work together and the inputs from Bo Selko and myself will not make the boats worse…

See you in Cannes

Markus.

108 Dragons are racing the Dragon Gold Cup in Douarnenez. (BB) Queen is leading helmed by Werner Fritz and crewed by Markus Wieser and Thomas Auracher - a new constellation! Further race reports will follow.

A sad start on the Gold Cup for RUS 888 who had damage on his furling system. We have for the sake of good order - and to remove all doubts announced that this dragon is an old Børresen dragon hull – fitted by another shipyard. Danish Nationals - 4 days in atypical summer weather...

A very strong fleet with 40 dragons was fighting for the Danish Championship and the Marblehead Trophy. The weather was very shifting - from no wind to more than 20 knots and shifting directions... Frank Berg and his crew, Søren Kaestel and Dickie, won the Championship in the renovated wooden dragon Get-A-Way - Congratulations once again. From a BB Dragon point of view it was very nice to see 6 new BB Dragons on the starting line all doing quite well. Overall results please click here... For the first time in dragon racing we tested a new kind of GPS tracking system where the dragons were equipped with a GPS sender to make it possible to follow the boats on a large screen on land and on line.
If you click here you can see more...Thank you to Marselisborg Sailing Club and the fantastic crew on land for a brilliant regatta.

BB Dragon is now being built in Vejle!

With effect from 1 May Royal Denship has through its parent company acquired 50% of Vejle Yacht Service ApS.

Since Peter and Royal Denship took over the rights and building licence to build the BB dragon, the objective has been to find the best team of designers, dragon sailors, sail makers and craftsmen. This has led to that today we have a very strong team to build and develop the most important – the ultimate dragon.

And we must admit that we succeeded both as far as the results on the course and the finished product are concerned.

In the month of June the total production apparatus including all moulds, “vacuum infusion” system etc, have been moved from the yard in Faaborg to a refurbished facility in Vejle. In the future Thomas Egeskov will thus be the manager in charge of the production and completion of the BB dragons.

Thomas Egeskov has a long experience from Børrresens Bådebyggeri and he has a team of competent boat builders behind him. Since the start-up of Vejle Yacht Service, the yard has worked with refitting and completion of among others Petticrow dragons as well as service work on Petticrow dragons in Scandinavia. – New as well as old.

By now we can see that the partnership with Vejle Yacht Service is the right constellation and we look forward to delivering new dragons, which can now be delivered with teak deck and tree superstructure.
Possible guarantee repair of previously delivered dragons as well as service work on older boats will also be carried out in Vejle.

For further information please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kieler Week- only four races, no discard

- Markus Wieser's review...

Kieler Week (part one) once again has a big problem: too many classes, lousy race committees and the ability to prevent races. On the last day of racing the time limit was posted for 14.00 and the harbour start for the Dragons was 9.30! Even though there was a great westerly breeze, the race committee set up 2 long courses instead of one short and the chance for a fifth race.
At the end we had only
